I have rows and mountains of assorted books all throughout my house, but it wasn't until a few month's ago I had never really noticed until the last few months how much I also enjoy audio books. They're so convenient to listen to in the car, at the gym, at the park, or while I'm working my home-based business. You can take it all in, the way the author intended, and I also love that it helps my daughter who has dyslexia read along in her book.
Rewind to the other day when I was at a friend's house and she had the Echo (2nd gen) and was busy making biscuits for our Bible Study get together. "Alexa, set a timer for 15 minutes."
Have I been living under a rock? I mean, yeah I tell Google on my phone to do the same, but to not even have to locate my phone; not have to fuss with putting in my passcode (thanks to the kids), and having to push a button, I can just say "Alexa, read [Audible book title]" or resume the current book I'm reading by saying "Alexa, read my book." or in my friend's instance "Alexa, set a timer." I have to get one.
Of course, the universe must be trying to tell me something because guess what popped up in my feed? A refurbished Echo Dot (2nd gen) was on sale on Prime (regularly priced at $39.99 refurbed, and new for $49.99). Of course I had to order one. ;-P
Now don't get me wrong, I still plan to read a physical book on my own, read to my children, or have them read to me (and sneak in a few whiffs when I can! lol) but I can't wait to make life a little simpler.
