They say, "Everything is bigger in Texas!" But don't let big electric bills be one of those. LOL.
Okay, so about every 12 months, our contract with our electric company expires. I loved our previous company (4change Energy), BUT they are no longer offering pay-by-tier for the amount of kWh we use. If you've never had the option to pay-by-tier, it is a great option because you always know what your bill is going to be. Perfect for those on a budget! Here's how it works: If we used under 500 kWh, we paid $64.50, under 1000 kWh an additional $64.50....and so on. It's awesome because it was a set amount including monthly TDU charges! BUT since they no longer offer that deal, it was time to do some searching.
Did you know in Texas, you have the Power to Choose which electric company you wish to use? It's really simple. You just enter your zip and it will let you know what electric providers are available. In my area, I came across Constellation. In the Fall and Spring months, I like to air out the house and enjoy the cooler weather, so we use less than 1000 kWh; and during the Summer and Winter months, we use close to 2000 kWh per month so it makes sense to go for a plan that cost less for that usage. The bonus for me was that Constellation offers all current TDU pass thru charges, without markup and pay-by-tier pricing! Here's the price they offered (which may differ from area to area):
If you're in the market for cheaper electric, be sure to check out Constellation. If you signup with them using the link or referral code: 21DT5, you'll receive a $25 billing credit!
