Saturday we headed out to Round Rock for their free annual Muddy Miler Family Adventure, and we had A BLAST!! :)
The storms the day before made for some even muddier conditions! The race goes off in waves and they use pumps to use the pond water to keep the obstacle extra muddy during the course.
The mile-long course includes.a water slide down the hill into a puddle of water, army crawling through the mud, Climbing a muddy hill of tires, and wade through chest high ice pit. They literally throw ice chest full of ice into the water holes! There were 3 different water holes: one for the littles, one for the bigger kids, and one for the adults-- where we have to go head under water mid-point! I unfortunately forgot about my phone when I did it, so it is now sitting in a bowl of rice.
There was a station where you had to climb the wooden towers, and jump (or go under) wooden hurdle like things. The race ends with climbing a huge mud hill. Austin was seriously stuck at the bottom of it for a good 15 minutes. His sister tried to get him out with no luck, so I had to go in and help. Not before falling into an unseen hole first though! LOL. There were so many lost shoes!
If you do, here's what we suggest wearing/bringing:
-clothes you don't mind having to possibly throw away after. (I would also recommend shorts. I wore workout leggings and the mud was caked to my legs when we got home!)
-socks you don't mind throw away after. It's really just easier to throw 'em away. LOL
-tennis shoes that you don't mind having to possibly throw away after, not water or pull on shoes as they will easily fall off and get stuck in the mud.
-remove any valuable jewelry. Your rings could get pulled of when stuck in the mud.
-towels you again don't mind having to possibly throw away after. They will be dirty because let's face it, we were playing in the mud! LOL. We use to wipe off any excess muddy water, wipe our faces, and then to sit on in the car. I have leather seats, so you may want to bring plastic for everyone to sit on as well.
-plastic bags to put wet clothes and shoes in. I had one bag for clothes and one for shoes.
-flip flops to change into after
-water proof type photography/filming gear like a disposable water camera, go pro, etc, but only if you really need it. If you bring a phone, bring something to protect it. Or keep your phone in a bag with your towels, so when you go to get them after the event, you won't have to worry about damaging. Another idea is take mental pictures, because you'll just be having too much fun.
-water bottles for rehydrating after the event.
We hope to see you there!

There is no time limit to when you finish and there are sprayers set up to rinse off at the very end, but the line was really long so we just went in the pond and rinsed and dried off the best we could. We finished in about an hour, and then headed home. If you get the chance next year, we highly recommend attending!
